Transportation ChangesTo ensure the safety of your child, transportation changes can not be taken over the phone. Parents must send in a notes 24hrs in advance. Cell Phone PolicyCell phones and ear pods are NOT allowed during the instructional day 8:45AM - 4:30PM (this includes lunch, recess, dismissal - while students are in the building). Cell phones must be silenced and put away. Having a cell phone out during the day is a violation of the Whitewater student code of conduct and a disruption to instruction. All students will get one warning during homeroom. If a cell phone is caught out, that teacher will take the phone, give it to the office and keep till the end of the day. Parents, please speak with your students about the cell phone policy. We have technology ready for students to use to engage in learning activities.

School Uniform PolicyWe are a uniform school. All students are expected to where the uniform attire Monday - Thursday. White, Black, Navy, Hunter Green collared shirt. Navy, Black, Khakis pants or skirts with closed toe shoes. Bonnets, hats, du-rags are not to be worn in the building. Student Hoodies are to remain off while you are in the building. We want to make sure was can see your smiling faces. Jean Day Friday for students95% of our students did a great job following the Jean Day expectations! On Fridays students are allowed to wear jeans with NO OPEN RIPS. We should not be able to see skin through the rips. No excessively short shorts (3 in, 5in and 7in shorts are NOT allowed). School Uniform UpdateThe process to obtain school board approval to end the uniform policy at Whitewater Middle School was NOT complete because we did not get 70% parent feedback. Therefore, Whitewater Middle School is still a uniform school for the 23-24 school year.

Process to End/Revise Uniform PolicyWe will begin the process again to determine next steps for the Whitewater Middle School uniform policy. The first day of school, parents will receive the uniform policy survey and details regarding the process. I copied the CMS School Board Policy for uniform plans and revisions below for your reference. Policy: S-UNI/RLINKED HERE

IV. Timeline for the Development and Approval of Uniform Plans

Unless the Superintendent gives his/her explicit consent, uniform plans shall be developed according to the timeline set forth below. The timeline must be developed so that uniform plans can be approved and parents notified at least 10 days before the end of the school year. (All time periods given are maximum lengths of time in which the action must occur.)

Day 1	Notify LC Contact of intent to develop uniform plan; submit proposed timeline.
2 weeks later	Receive approval of timeline from LC Contact; adjust proposed timeline as necessary.
2 weeks later	Submit proposed uniform plan to LC Contact and begin survey process
30 days later	Complete parent survey; forward results with finalized uniform plan to LC Contact
1 week later	LC Contact notifies school of approval/ disapproval and forwards approved uniform plans to the Superintendent's designee
2 weeks later	Superintendent's designee reviews the submitted uniform plan with the Superintendent and notifies principal of Superintendent's decision
2 weeks later (must be at least 10 days before the end of the school year)	School notifies parents and students of approved uniform plan
Following School Year	Uniform Plan is implemented

V. Revocation or Revision of Uniform Plans

Schools in CMS with uniform plans adopted prior to the 2008/2009 school year may undertake a review and potential revocation of their uniform plans with the approval of the Area Superintendent. Uniform plans adopted during or after the 2008/2009 school year may be reviewed and revised or rescinded according the schedule included in the originally adopted uniform plan. In order to rescind or revise a uniform plan, principals must work with the SLT to develop a justification for why the school should no longer be a "uniform school" or why the current plan should be changed. The principal shall then survey parents according to the procedure set forth in Section II. The justification and survey results shall be submitted for approval according to the process and timeline described in Sections III and IV of this regulation.

Summer HoursThe building will be open for registration Monday- Thursday 7:30AM - 1:00PM and 2:00PM - 4:30PM

Hello Gator Family! I am Tammillye Ward, the newly appointed Principal of Whitewater Middle School. I am committed to ensuring that every student at Whitewater Middle School has access to endless possibilities!

About Me
I have been in the education profession for 17 years. I am a proud graduate of Jackson State University. My pursuit of lifelong learning has been a driving force throughout my professional journey. I obtained a Master's in the Art of Teaching from the University of Phoenix and a Master's in Educational Leadership from St. Francis University.

My Educational Background
With my unwavering commitment to providing equitable opportunities for all students, I have demonstrated my dedication as a service leader. I served two years as an Assistant Principal in the Valley View School District in Illinois, where I honed my leadership skills and contributed to the overall success of the district. Following that, I served as the Assistant Principal at Westerly Hills Academy with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for four years, to which I played a pivotal role in shaping the educational experience for students.

My Family
I am not only a dedicated educator but also a devoted family person. I am married with two wonderful daughters. My oldest daughter, Zaniyah, is a sophomore at North Carolina A&T, while my younger daughter, Aubrey, is currently a 5th-grade student in CMS. Being a parent myself, I understand the importance of fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can flourish.
