• Hello Lion Families!

Welcome to the Lansdowne IB World School family! My goal as the principal is to lead a staff who desires to maintain an environment where, when students and families visit our school, they will feel our strong sense of community and LION PRIDE! The entire Lansdowne Family believes in our school mission, which is to have high expectations for academic performance and character development for each student in a safe, caring environment that embraces cultural diversity. We will do this by implementing the International Baccalaureate Program (PYP) and thereby empowering our students to become critical, independent thinkers with the skills to be active participants in an ever-changing global society.

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and graduated from Johnson C. Smith University here in Charlotte, NC with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education. My decision to come south was challenging, but little did I know that Charlotte would be my new home where not only would I start my own family, but have a career that has been so rewarding.

My first position in CMS was as a classroom teacher. I taught third, fourth, and fifth grades and served as a math facilitator during my 10 years at Devonshire Elementary. During that time, I also served as a mentor to new teachers, led Professional Development for staff/district, and began to serve in leadership roles for the district. In 2008, I was selected for the North Carolina Principal Fellows program. I served as a Principal Fellow Intern at University Meadows Elementary School from 2006-2007. I obtained my master’s in school administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I am both a licensed principal and a curriculum specialist. For more than a decade, I have been an administrator at magnet schools, Title 1 and non-Title 1 schools all here in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.

I am a proud mom of two daughters. My oldest daughter is a graduate of Elon University and works in the Communications department in CMS. My other daughter is a junior at UNC at Charlotte and studying Chemistry.  She hopes to find a career in Forensic Science upon graduation.  When I am not working you will find me spending quality time with my family.

I have been a part of the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System since 94,  as a teacher, facilitator, and administrator. I am committed to working with my staff to ensure that every child at our school receives the highest quality instruction in a nurturing learning environment. We believe that all children can be successful and every day is an opportunity for us to Persevere with Pride!

    Principal, Tracey Hager
