Thelma Byers-Bailey is a Charlotte native and West Charlotte High School graduate. She earned a bachelor’s degree in physics and math from Fisk University, a law degree from St. Louis University and a master’s degree from the St. Louis Joint Degree Program. After practicing law in California and serving in leadership roles with the Wiley Manual Bar Association and the California State Bar, she returned to Charlotte. Byers-Bailey is vice-president of the Lincoln Heights Neighborhood Association. She has tutored 4th and 5th graders in math at Walter G. Byers School. She has two adult children and seven grandchildren.
