• Welcome “Rising 6th” grade! We are so excited to have you at SCMS this fall. 

    It is important that you read this entire document before making your course selections. 

    Contact information in PowerSchool must be accurate. Please contact our registrar (kimberlya.pace@cms.k12.nc.us) to confirm that the correct email and phone number are listed in PowerSchool. 

    Our entire registration and course selection process is online. Below is the step-by-step registration process. You must complete each step before moving on to the next:

    This document is for current 5th graders preparing to advance to 6th grade at South Charlotte Middle School.

    1. View the “Registration Video.”

    2. Open the “Rising 6th Electronic Course Card” google form:

      1. Use the “Math & ELA Placement Recommendation” document to help guide your decision for math & ELA course selection.

      2. Use the “6th Grade Elective Course Descriptions” document to help guide your decisions for elective requests. 

      3. Fill out the form completely, and hit submit 

        1. We recommend asking it to send you a copy of your responses

    3. View the “PowerSchool Registration Directions” in order to enter your 

    choices into PowerSchool - you can use the copy of your responses from 

    the google form to help you with this final step. 

    1. If you need to make changes after submitting the “Rising 6th Electronic Course Card” or on PowerSchool, please email whitneyr.matthews@cms.k12.nc.us  Please do not submit the google form a second time.
