Licensure
We ensure that teacher candidates are able to receive an appropriate license for their recommended postion. The Role of the CMS Licensure Department:
The CMS Licensure Department provides assistance to educators who are working towards North Carolina licensure and interested in employment with CMS. Generally, this process begins with applying for positions with CMS. If recommended for a teaching position, you would be assigned to a Licensure Case Manager based on your school assignment. From there, the License Case Manager will work to ensure you are eligible for the license needed to support that role.
For general information on licensure requirements, you can always review state information on the NC Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) website here: Forms and FAQs | NC DPI
Additional Information from CMS Licensure - We Generally Assist With:
- NCDPI License Applications
- License Renewal
- CMS-specific FAQs
- and more!
If you are employed with CMS, you should already have received communication from your Licensure Case Manager (LCM). This is your best contact for licensure questions and specific details about your next steps for licensure.
If you are not yet employed with CMS or unsure of your school's specific License Case Manager, you can always call the general department line for assistance at 980-343-1908 or by sending us an email at: licensure@cms.k12.nc.us
