BENEFITS
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) is pleased to offer employees a broad array of benefit options. Please take a few moments to watch the above video and access the links below, which provide additional information on the benefits offered to you.
Register for your personal enrollment session today!
Call 980-343-1754 or select "Schedule an Appointment" with a benefits counselor to complete your enrollment.
You have 30 days from your date of hire to enroll in benefits.
If you miss your enrollment deadline, you may not enroll until the next annual open enrollment period unless you experience a qualifying life event.

Benefit counselors will assist you with your enrollment. Benefit counselors will help orient you to CMS's many benefits and help acquaint you with the electronic systems. Once enrolled, employees can access the systems at any time. In addition, the benefits counselor will walk through the website with new employees and answer any questions you may have.
All benefits enrollment is done electronically and can be completed from any available computer with internet access. There are two enrollment systems. To enroll in a medical plan, please login to CMS State Health Plan.
Please use Lawson Self-Service to enroll in all other Employee Benefits.
PAYROLL
Once you have access to Lawson (2-3 business days after your start date), log in to Employee Self-Service from the employee intranet to complete your direct deposit and tax witholding information.
VIRTUAL ORIENTATION
CMS conducts a mandatory virtual orientation through the Safe Schools platform with mandatory modules that must be completed. You will gain access to Safe Schools on your start date listed on your checklist. The orientation will cover local, state and federal board policies along with safety information. Assigned modules should be completed within 14 days of your start date and can only be accessed through your CMS account. For Safe School troubleshooting, email safeschools@cms.k12.nc.us.
Use your CMS log-in and password for access.
EMPLOYEE ID/EMAIL
Your employee ID number and your username and password are used to access various CMS portals and your CMS email account. You will receive an email from "Lawson Help Desk" in your personal and CMS email accounts 2-3 days after your start date. Call the Help Desk at 343-5736 if you have not received this email after 4 days.
