High School Social Studies

High school students engage in more sophisticated analysis and reconstruction of the past, examining its relationship to the present and its implications for the future. They integrate individual stories about people, events, and situations to form broader concepts of continuity and change linked in time and across cultures. As a result, students can think systematically about personal, national, and global decisions, interactions, and consequences at the high school level. They learn to address critical issues such as peace, human rights, trade, and global ecology. Students also learn how to draw on their knowledge of history to make informed choices and decisions in the present.
