CMS Board of Education recognizes students and their artwork

More than 600 Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools students submitted artwork to The Crown Collection: A Board of Education Districtwide K-12 Art Competition. Forty students and their winning pieces were recognized at the June 9 Board of Education meeting, and their artwork will be displayed on the fifth floor of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center.

“This board has an unwavering commitment to arts education,” said Board of Education Chair Stephanie Sneed. “Art isn’t just an elective, it’s vital to our students’ voice, growth and expression.”

In addition to recognizing the 40 winning art pieces, students with the highest vote total in each category were also presented a special award.
