The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards program announces 2026 national medalists

The Alliance for Young Artists and Writers has announced its national medalists for the 2026 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, and six students from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools have been recognized. The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards is the nation’s longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens. 

Congratulations to the following students:

Duncan Kennedy, South Mecklenburg High School. Silver medal for “The Pressure Within."
