Three Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools high schools made the list of top 20 N.C. high schools, according to U.S. News & World Report. The annual “Best High Schools” rankings include data on more than 27,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. 

Below are U.S. News & World Report’s top 10 CMS high schools (in order) and their state ranking:

1. Ardrey Kell High | No. 13
2. Providence High | No. 14
3. Charlotte Engineering Early College | No. 17
4. Harper Middle College High | No. 31
5. J.T. Williams Secondary Montessori | No. 38
6. Northwest School of the Arts | No. 42
7. William Amos Hough High | No. 43
8. Levine Middle College High | No. 48
9. Myers Park High | No. 53
10. Merancas Middle College High | No. 60

Ardrey Kell also ranked in the top 500 schools nationally, at No. 475.

Nearly 18,000 schools were ranked on college readiness, state assessment proficiency, state assessment performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth and graduation rate, based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college.
