West Meck students attend 'Top Chef' premiere
West Meck students at 'Top Chef' premiere

On March 2, four students from the NAF Academy of Hospitality and Tourism Culinary Pathway at West Mecklenburg High represented their school at the red‑carpet premiere of Bravo’s “Top Chef: Carolinas” at the historic Carolina Theatre in Charlotte. Senior Sapphire Dew, juniors Kylie Vaughn and Kennedi Marie Bonaparte, and freshman Montavia Seals were selected to attend based on their dedication, growth and performance within the program.

Students attended an industry networking reception, a live panel discussion featuring “Top Chef” alum host Kristen Kish and judges Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons, and a private screening of the premiere episode of the new season.

The Queen City served as the host location for season 23 of Bravo’s Emmy Award–winning culinary competition series. The premiere brought together chefs, hospitality professionals, media and community leaders to celebrate the Carolinas’ growing culinary influence and vibrant food culture.
