Bases Loaded: Back-to-School Celebration

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools hosted its annual Bases Loaded: Back-to-School Celebration on Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Truist Field.

Thousands of families walked the concourse and had the opportunity to stop and visit the tables of several CMS departments and community partners, ask questions and receive resources including bookbags, hygiene kits, school supplies, books and more.

“It’s phenomenal to be able to have all of these resources under one roof, especially with all the questions you may have coming into a school year,” said CMS parent Tracee Owens. “It’s nice to be able to get those questions answered in one place and know that support is available not just for your student, but for your family as well.”

And Saturday’s event wasn’t designed to be a one-time opportunity for families to get the support they need. Molly Rush, director of Family Engagement, said resources are available to families year-round.

“Our team is here to support the whole family, and we’re here to make sure that everyone in the family is able to stay connected, engaged and ready for a successful school year,” said Rush.
