Celebrate Public Schools Week!

Public Schools Week 2026

Public Schools Week is Feb. 23-27, and is an annual, weeklong celebration that brings together educators, district leaders, parents and advocates nationwide to spotlight the strength and promise of our public schools. Led by the Learning First Alliance, a coalition of 11 national education groups, the week aims to showcase the dynamic work happening in public schools, how we respond to current and post-pandemic challenges, and the invaluable lessons learned, which ultimately contribute to the ongoing improvement of K-12 education.

In Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS), the vision is to create an innovative, inclusive, student-centered environment that supports the development of independent learners. Serving more than 140,000 students across Mecklenburg County, CMS focuses on ensuring all students reach their full potential and leads the community in educational excellence, inspiring intellectual curiosity, creativity and achievement.

“Public Schools Week allows us to celebrate the heart of Charlotte‑Mecklenburg Schools – our incredible educators, staff, students, families and community partners,” said Superintendent Dr. Crystal Hill. “Every day, I see our CMS team’s unwavering commitment to excellence and opportunity. Their dedication strengthens our schools and our community. As we honor Public Schools Week, I reaffirm my belief in the power of public education and our mission to ensure every CMS student is known, loved, supported and inspired to explore the endless possibilities ahead.”
