The CMS Student Placement and Pre-K team are holding a Welcome Event on Saturday, June 6, at the Central Piedmont Community College Harris Campus, 3210 CPCC Harris Campus Drive, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Families with a rising kindergartner will have an opportunity to start the 2026-27 school year strong and meet with the staff of their elementary school, setting the tone for a positive, well-supported start to their school journey.

But this event is not just for kindergarten families. All families new and returning to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools are invited to attend and meet with several CMS departments that will be in attendance to get their enrollment questions answered.

“Come ready to leave fully prepared for the 2026–27 school year,” said Catrese Braswell, executive director of Student Placement and Registration. “This event provides a valuable opportunity for kindergarten students to connect directly with their assigned schools, while also allowing all students and families to engage with various district departments. Attendees will be able to get their questions answered, access important resources and leave with the confidence that their child is ready for a successful first day of school.”
