Dallas Brannon, a senior at Independence High School, was announced as the winner of the Jimmie Lee Kirkpatrick Award on Jan. 2 during the 24th annual Duke’s Mayo Bowl at the Bank of America Stadium.

The award — presented by the Charlotte Sports Foundation, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and Dr Pepper — is named after Jimmie Lee Kirkpatrick of Myers Park High School and celebrates a senior football player from CMS who excels both on the field and in the community. The award includes a $10,000 scholarship and a trophy.
