Community MLK Day of Service Project

Over the Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend, the Knights Building Knights Foundation partnered with Cochrane Collegiate Academy to refresh a coworking space for teachers and staff. With the help of CCiA scholars, community volunteers, and a mini-grant from Dollar General, the "Colts' Working Space" came to life! Guest artists Janeva Tyree and Zaire McPhearson assisted with the painting, including a mural and a commemorative art piece featured in the space. The KBK Foundation also replenished and reorganized the student clothes closet and assisted with setting up spaces for testing!

Features of the Colts' Working Space include:
  • Refrigerator (stocked with a limited supply of communal refreshments)*
  • Microwave
  • Staff Wellness Kit (Including self-care essentials and basic first aid supplies)*
  • Keurig Machine (stocked with a limited supply of assorted k-cups and creamer)*
  • Snack pantry*
Special thanks to the collective visions and efforts of Mr. Stitt, Mrs. Rondo, and Ms. Williams, our scholar-helpers of iMeck SGA and Mrs. Cowan's art class, as well as to our community partners, the Knights Building Knights Foundation!

*Donations to allow us to continue offering these items to our teachers and staff throughout the year are welcome!
