Endhaven Chess Success Story!!

There was a chess event organized by Charlotte Mecklenburg Scholastic Chess Association (www.cmsca.org) on Saturday Feb 25th at Randolph Middle School. There were approximately 191 studemt from 46 schools (Elementary, Middle and High School) who were divided into about 25 Quads. Our school team consisted of two 4th grade students – Maanas and Saketh and three 2nd grade students – Shakthi, Alan Rinto and Akhil. (We had Akshey Somasundaram also as extra). Endhaven was in Quad#1 with Olde Providence Elementary School, Davidson K-8 School and Charles Parker Academic Center. The first round against Davidson was a breeze with 5 wins. The second round was closer against Olde Providence with 3 wins and 2 losses. The third round against Charles Parker was very close with 3 wins and 2 losses and all the games went to the wire. Endhaven team won the Quad (wins in all rounds) and here is the picture of our team. Alan and Saketh won all 3 rounds and Maanas and Akhil won 2 rounds that made this win possible. Special mention to Akhil whose 3rd round game went over 30 min (pretty good for 2nd grade student).
