24-25 Student Schedules Released
Good evening Robinson Families,
Official schedules for the 2024-2025 school year are now ready to be viewed in PowerSchool. While we know that many students viewed their tentative schedules before this release, it is important to review the current schedules since we have been refining schedules right up to this release.
Please read the rest of this message for important information regarding schedules. This communication has been designed to answer many frequently asked questions and reassure you that the schedule you are viewing is accurate. Our staff at Robinson worked incredibly hard to accommodate student elective preferences and the best core class placement. Here are a few things to keep in mind when reviewing your schedule:
-
If your child qualifies for an Accelerated section of Math 6 Honors or Math 7 Honors it will be on your schedule as Honors. There is no designation in PowerSchool for the accelerated sections.
-
For Accelerated Honors Math 7 students will be in one of the following sections.
-
Mrs. Eversole - 2nd or 4th block
-
-
For Accelerated Honors Math 6 students will be in one of the following sections.
-
Mr. Travis - 1st or 2nd block
-
-
-
There are three teachers that have not populated in PowerSchool. We utilize current staff members to organize their classes until PowerSchool allows us to add them. The placeholder, actual teacher names and subjects are listed below:
-
Jenouri- Tammy Vote, 8th grade Math
-
Smith - Anum Akhter, 8th grade Science
-
Love - Michael McKinney, Extensions ELA
-
-
Honor Drama and Dance sections are as follows. PowerSchool does not allow a designation for Honors in these sections
-
Honors Drama is Semester 1 B-day and Semester 2 A-day (8th grade only)
-
Honors Dance is Semester 1 A-day(8th) and Semester 1 B-day(7th)
-
-
If your child registered for semester math courses such as Math 1/Math 2 or Math 2/Math 3 be sure you view the schedule for the entire year. Sometimes PowerSchool defaults to 1st semester which causes confusion.
-
If your child would like to play a musical instrument in middle or high school they MUST begin in 6th grade and continue in 7th grade. Please complete the “Course Change Request Process” described below if your schedule does not list band or orchestra and your child would like the opportunity to participate. If they did not participate in 6th grade they will not be able to sign up in 7th.
-
As a reminder, students are only allowed one Project Lead the Way (PLTW) course per year. Therefore, you may not use the Change Request Process to add another PLTW course.
-
Schedules can be viewed through your students PowerSchool account. If you have never set-up a parent PowerSchool account, please contact the front office at 980-343-6944. If you have set-up an account and cannot remember your password, select the “forgot password” option on the log-in screen.
If, after reviewing your schedule, you would like to request a schedule change, please complete the following process:
-
Download a “Course Change Request Form” here in this message or from the JMR website. The form will be listed in the School Announcements section on the home page.
-
The form must be printed out, completed, and turned in to the main office at Robinson. There will be a location at the front desk to leave the form. Only course change request forms submitted to the front desk will be considered. Please do not contact the school regarding schedule changes via email or phone.
-
The “Course Change Request Form'' will be accepted until Friday, August 16th. The main office is open Monday - Friday from 7:30 - 3:00. “Course Change Request Forms” will not be accepted after 3:00 on Friday.
-
A staff member will carefully review every course change request and contact families via email with the outcome of the request prior to open house on Wednesday, August 21st. Please do not contact the main office for information pertaining to a schedule change. They will not have information regarding your change request.
-
Submitting a “Course Change Request Form” does not guarantee a change can be made due to a student’s current schedule and the availability of course sections (A-day vs. B-day, Semester 1 vs Semester 2, etc.)
-
If students do not get into all their elective preferences and are in 6th or 7th grade, they will have additional opportunities in later grades. If students are in 8th grade, high schools offer similar elective choices as they move forward. We appreciate your understanding and truly believe that if students have an open mind, a new experience can open the door to new passions and talents.
Enjoy the remainder of your summer and we look forward to seeing you on campus during open house on Wednesday, Aug 21, 2024.
