CULTURAL RECAP

Global Cafe

 cafe

From the Global Cafe to our French extravaganza, NAWL once again makes an impression. We shared the big news that our French program received the "LabelFrancÉducation" which is a French quality seal awarded to schools outside of France that offer high-quality French bilingual programs, ensuring a strong foundation in French language and culture.

Galette de Rios

Take a look at students in Mme. Croker and Mme. Stahl’s French immersion classes. Galette des Rois (King’s Cake), is a French tradition which is celebrated on January 6th and is a time honored event in French culture.

This delicious pastry is shared among participants.

      •   A small “fève” (bean or figurine) is hidden inside the pastry.

      •   The person who finds the fève becomes the “king” or “queen” for the day and gets to wear a paper crown provided with the pastry.

Oktoberfest

Let’s hear it for the students in our German immersion program. For the second year they were asked to showcase their talent for our city during the Mecklenburg Oktoberfest. They sang and recited selections in German. They were brave and enthusiastic about their school. Most importantly, they had fun! Thank you Mr. Bond and Principal Fergison for being there as well. Way to go!

At NAWL we have top notch students who are competitive and sharp. Congrats to our students who participated in the ASC Chinese recitation event. They placed competitively and received many compliments on their pronunciation. That you Li Laoshi and Li Laoshi for working with these students.
