IMPORTANT SAFETY REMINDER FROM MS. WARD
Greetings Whitewater Middle School families, please read this message in its entirity regarding reminders about student safety.
We are aware of reports and threats circulating against several schools, both with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and beyond. We take all threats seriously and work with law enforcement to investigate each threat. Thus far, none have been deemed credible.
We know that this message was sent to some schools across our district last week; however, today's message serves to reiterate the importance of school safety to all school communities.
We ask that you speak with your child(ren) and remind them that making threats, in a serious or joking manner, is in violation of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Code of Student Conduct and will be disciplined accordingly. Consequences can range from a ten-day suspension to long-term suspension in addition to the potential arrests and criminal charges. This may have life-long impacts. We encourage all students to report threats to a trusted adult, through our Say Something app, or to school administration. If the threat is imminent and life-threatening, call 911.
As always, the safety and well-being of our students and staff are our number one priority. Thank you for your continued support of Whitewater Middle School.
