9/8/23 - PSAT/NMSQT Updates

TO: High School Principals

THRU: Beth Thompson, Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer

FROM: Danielle Miller, Executive Director, Office of Accountability
Jennifer Bower, Director, State and Federal Testing

DATE: September 8, 2023

For the 2023-2024 school year, CMS will administer PSAT at grade 10 and PSAT/NMSQT at grade 11.
This is a change from previous communication last spring. The 2023-24 assessment calendar has been updated. School test coordinators will be provided additional information and details during the currently scheduled PSAT/NMSQT, PreACT, and CCRAA Grade 10 training which will take place on
Tuesday, September 12th from 9:00 - 3:30.
The College Board has implemented many changes to the test administration which will provide schools more flexibility:

● PSAT/NMSQT in grades 10 and 11 is now a window, October 9 - October 31, allowing for multiple opportunities for initial and make-up test sessions throughout the window instead of a one day administration.
● PSAT/NMSQT in grades 10 and 11 will be online for the 2023 - 2024 school year. Students will utilize the Bluebook App in Kiosk mode to access the test. This has already been pushed to all high school devices.
● All students will be required to complete a digital readiness check 1 to 2 weeks before testing to ensure the devices and students are ready for test day.
● There will not be an early release day for PSAT/NMSQT.
