SUBJECT: Best Practices Boot Camp

ACTION: Notify all 0-3 Year and Non-Certified Health and Physical Education Teachers

Due to the number of newly hired and non-certified Health and Physical Education teachers across the district, the Health and Physical Education Support Team feels it necessary to conduct a professional development to ensure all newly hired and non certified teachers have the resources they need to develop a safe and supportive learning environment for their students.

This learning will occur on September 25, 2023, from 9:00am to 3:00pm at Eastway Middle School.

This training will support the following Goals and Guardrails:

Pillar 1: Academic Excellence
                ○ Initiative 1.1 MTSS Core Practices & Specialized Supports
Pillar 2: People Excellence
                ○ Initiative 2.2: Professional Development
Pillar 3: Operational Excellence
                ○ Initiative 3.1: Safety and Security

We will cover a variety of topics, including:

● Classroom management best practices
● Equipment, gymnasium, and student safety
● Choice Led Health best practices (Grades 6-9)
● Routines and Structures in the gymnasium and classroom to establish a safe and supportive learning environments for students

It is important that these newly hired and 0–3-year teachers attend this training to learn how to keep students safe, develop positive learning environments, and lead developmentally appropriate lessons to all students.
