TO: All Principals

THRU: Jaron Carson, Chief Equity and School Performance Officer
Nancy Brightwell, Chief Academic Officer

FROM: Kimberly Vaught, Executive Director, CMS Department of Ed. Leadership
Erin Shoemaker, Executive Director, Learning and Teaching

ACTION: Review Information and Follow Procedure if Needed

We are aware that some schools may need to assign teacher leaders who are currently teaching in classroom roles to attend Day 1 (Instructional Leader Training) and/or Day 3 (Relay Training) of our Professional Learning Cycles because of staffing structures. As such, schools may need to request substitute teachers to cover classroom positions on these occasions. We have limited funding to cover the cost of substitute teachers in cases where schools have had to designate teacher leaders to attend Relay or Instructional Leader Professional Development. Please see the procedures below for submitting documentation.
