CMS student art work receives high praise during the 2024 Congressional Art Competition
Posted on: 5/29/2024
Avian Cannon, senior at Lake Norman Charter High School, won first place in the district in the 2024 Congressional Art Competition. The piece, an oil painting titled "Scrutiny in the Third Person", will be displayed in an exhibition in Washington, DC for the next year, alongside student art from around the country.
Although Avian's work will travel to DC, several CMS students' art work will remain on exhibit within the Mint Museum Uptown. Included in that exhibit is Congressional Art Competition's second place work by Sarah Schoen of William Amos Hough High, and third place work by Ka'Majh Mitchell of West Charlotte. Two honorable mentions are also included, both seniors from West Charlotte: Anastasia Bradley Sullivan and Camille Duncan.
You can visit these works in the Mint Museum's Star Gallery until June 2, 2024.
