Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools held a dedication for one of its newest facilities, Knights View Elementary, at the school on Oct. 23. The school was built with funding from the 2017 bond to relieve growth in the student populations at Elon Park, Hawk Ridge and Polo Ridge elementary schools.

“I am so honored to be the principal of a brand-new school, being able to create something new, make history and define the Knights View Elementary School way with the students, the staff and the families,” said Principal Summer Rogers. “It has just been an incredible experience, and Knights View is leading the way.”

The program included students from different grade levels who spoke about what it means to be a leader at Knights View. Board of Education member Summer Nunn, District 6; Board Chair Stephanie Sneed; and Superintendent Dr. Crystal Hill also spoke at the event.

The 45-classroom, state-of-the-art elementary school opened in August 2024. It serves 550 children who are currently in pre-kindergarten through fourth grade. Fifth grade will be added in the 2025-26 school year. The mission of Knights View Elementary is to provide a safe and inclusive environment that reinforces positive behavior to help educate, support and prepare citizens of the world. The school is located across the street from Ardrey Kell High School.
