Opera Carolina engages with students at Reid Park Academy

Teaching artists from Opera Carolina are boosting language learning for students at Reid Park Academy.

The volunteers are engaging with students weekly to expand their access to arts and music education and connect it back to English language arts. Their seven-week residency has little to do with singing. Instead, it’s focused on the art of expression through stories and more.

“Opera is telling a big story on stage. So, we are connecting with the students and helping them tell their own stories,” said Teil Taliesin, Opera Carolina’s Learning Programs Manager.

The residency involves three teaching artists from Opera Carolina.
