Conducting Research in CMS

CMS welcomes research partnerships that contribute to organizational learning, continuous improvement, and better outcomes for students, educators, families, and the broader district-community. We partner with universities, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, independent researchers, and practitioner-researchers to conduct studies aligned to district priorities and strategic learning needs.

All research projects involving CMS students, staff, schools, programs, or district data that are not publicly available must be reviewed and approved by the Strategic Research and Evaluation team before implementation.

Projects using only publicly available information and datasets likely do not require review.  If you are unsure whether your project requires review, contact the Strategic Research and Evaluation Team using the "Contact Us" link below.

2026-2027 Strategic Research and Evaluation Priorities

We encourage research that builds on the assets, expertise, and lived experiences of our community and engages educators, students, families, and community members as partners in the research process. Our strategic research and evaluation priorities are grounded in our district's Theory of Change, Goals and Guardrails, and 2024-2029 Strategic Plan.

CMS welcomes research partnerships through a variety of pathways! Graduate students, Faculty and University Partners, and Independent Researchers are all welcome to conduct research with CMS
