Measles

There have been confirmed cases of Measles in the U.S. Measles is a viral illness that can have serious health complications and can easily spread. The symptoms of measles include a fever, runny nose, cough, rash and red eyes.

Make sure you and your children are up to date on your vaccines, especially the Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccine. 
In the event of a confirmed exposure, if a child is unvaccinated or hasn’t had measles before, they may be excluded from school for 21 days or longer to prevent further spread and ensure safety. If you or your child are not immune to measles, please call your healthcare provider or Mecklenburg County Public Health at 704-336-6500 to schedule a vaccine appointment.
