Logging Into a Chromebook at Home

3rd - 5th GradeCMSLaunchPad at home--Chromebook

1. Students should open the Chromebook lid to turn it on.

2. Students will see a login screen. This is the CMS LaunchPad login screen. Click the username box and type in your Student ID Number. Click the password box and type in your password. Click Sign In.

4. Select the MFA image that you chose.

5. Students will be prompted to enter their CMS email address to pass through the Zscaler screen. A student's email address is:

6. You will see the CMS LaunchPad.

7. If the Zscaler screen does not appear, open a new tab and go to any website. Example: Open https://soraapp.com/library/cms

6th - 13th Grade CMS LaunchPad at Home -- Chromebook

  1. Students should open the Chromebook lid to turn it on.

Logging Into an iPad at Home

Directions: Use the steps listed below to log into a CMS issued iPad at home.

  1. Open the ClassLink App.

  1. The login screen will appear.
    Type in the teacher provided student username and password then click Sign In.
    OR scan the teacher provided Student QuickCard.

  1. Select the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) symbol predetermined by your student.

  1. Some apps will prompt you to log into Zscaler and this login screen will appear.
  2. Type in the student CMS email address.

    Students should not type student in their email address.

  1. You will be redirected to a separate login page.
  2. Enter the email address in the same format as above.

    Students should not type student in their email address.

    In the password field, enter the same password used to login to the CMS LaunchPad from Step 2.

  1. Download the ClassLink App. 
  1. Students will see the below login screen.
  2. Click Login Here.
  3. Students will be presented with the login screen.

  2. Type in NCEdCloud number or student number in PowerSchool.
  3. Click the password box. Type in your new password.
  4. Type in cmsk12 as the School Code.
  5. Click the Sign In button.

NCEDCLOUD Login Information

Claim NCEdCloud Account

You will need your student ID number. Please contact your school or look on your schedule for your ID number.

Important: Do not claim your account if you attended any other NC district. Your account will transfer over to CMS once your old district has released your student records to CMS.
 
  1. Go to my.ncedcloud.org
  2. Click on Claim My Account
  3. Choose LEA Student Claim Policy on the next page, then click Next
  4. On the following screen, the following items must be filled in:
    • Student UID: student ID number
    • Grade level: the current grade level of the student
    • Birthdate: student birthdate in YYYYMMDD format
    • LEA/Charter Code: Enter 600
  5. Click on the checkbox next to "I'm not a robot", answer any CAPTCHAs, then click on Next
  6. On the next screen, choose a password that meets the requirements listed.
  7. After setting a password, you will be prompted to choose and answer security questions in case of a forgotten password.

Troubleshooting

I can't claim my NCEdCloud Account

  • If you were just recently enrolled from out-of-state to CMS, it takes a bit for the systems to update. Try again the next day and claim the account again.
  • If you have claimed your NCEdCloud account, you cannot claim it again. Log in using your ID number and last known password. If you don't remember your password, you can try clicking on Forget My Password or reach out to your school for assistance.

I can't log into my account

  • Try entering the information again. Your username is your student ID only.
  • If you don't remember your password, you can try clicking on Forget My Password or reach out to your school for assistance.

I transferred from a different NC district and the information on my NCEdCloud account is wrong

Please contact your school for instructions on how to complete the transfer of your NCEdCloud account to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. The previous district must release you from their records for your NCEdCloud account to transfer over.
