Welcome back to the 23-24 school year, Ashley Park scholars and families!

It is hard to believe that the summer is already coming to an end and we are approaching the 2023-2024 school year! We hope that you are enjoying your summer and ready to start an amazing year. This will be the fifth year of my leadership as building principal at Ashley Park Pre K-8.  I look forward to maintaining our growth and continuing to take us to higher levels in new ways!  I am very proud to serve this school community and pledge my commitment, service and leadership in cultivating a school that is an optimal place to learn, work and grow! 

Our theme this year is Excellence Everyday!   We believe that every scholar deserves excellence in teaching and support in both academic skills and habits of character to be successful well beyond their time at Ashley Park. We also believe and know that your involvement in our mission is critical. Therefore, we will begin the school year working toward even higher academic achievement in a positive, nurturing environment for every scholar. This will include teaching our core scholar values and continuing our social emotional work to help scholars start each day with drive and purpose. We have some amazing returning and new staff to make this happen, and look forward to your help and support in our vision and mission. 

This year, your scholars will continue to be engaging in rigorous and challenging math, reading, science, social studies and elective instruction. Your scholars will also be getting homework on a nightly or weekly basis, and we ask your support in checking with you scholar to ensure they are taking the time to complete their homework and getting any help that they need. You will also notice many more intentional ways for YOU to connect this year. We’ll have more events, and you’ll notice even more positive and consistent communication so you can celebrate with your scholar and understand their progress.  Together, we can do so much more!  Excellence, Every Day!

To make the year successful, we ask that you guide and support your child’s learning:

• Ensure your child attends school consistently, is well rested, and ready to learn.
• Ensure that he/she brings home his/her agenda - and you check it for flyers and notes
• Homework will be assigned on a nightly or weekly basis.  Please review all homework assignments
• Read with your child or have them read daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills.
• Login to the Power School Parent Portal to review grades and attendance.
• Sign up for Parent Square, communicate with your teacher regularly, and update your information in the front office.
• Attend as many of the Parent Engagement functions as you can.
• Listen to all Connect Ed Messages for updates and important information.
• Sign up for Parent Square *coming soon
• Keep your cell phone and email updated with the front office.  

As I begin my 5th year at Ashley Park with you,  I am once again honored to serve as your Principal.  I promise to do my very best to meet all the needs of our children!   I look forward to the friendships, the fellowship, and the journey to success!
