Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! Let me begin by sharing that I am honored to join the Butler High School family as your principal. I look forward to learning and growing together as a community. I would like to extend a warm welcome to all the families new to Butler High School, as well as our returning families. I look forward to getting to know each of the Butler High School families/communities. You can continue to expect excellence and staff members who are champions for students in a safe and inclusive setting. Every Bulldog can expect an engaging, student-centered learning environment in which to collaborate, create, and grow. The Bulldog staff is also committed to partnering with community stakeholders to identify and create opportunities for students. We are dedicated to their success at Butler High School and beyond!
We are all aware of the powerful influence of the village/community to create young adults who are independent thinkers and productive in society. It is important that we have your support in your child(ren)'s education both at home and at school. Your commitment to positive and timely communication with teachers and staff, monitoring of grades, reading and responding to school communications, PTO participation/volunteering, attending school events/athletics, ensuring on time arrival daily, and reaching out for support as needed contributes to academic excellence from your student(s) and Butler High School. Also, know that student voice is highly valued and is a necessary component to our success. Please encourage your student(s) to practice positive self-advocacy, as well as to contribute their ideas and efforts to ensure that the years at Butler High School are both enjoyable and contribute to completion of their post-secondary plans.
The theme for Butler High School this year is "Pursuing Excellence". The pursuit of excellence will begin with teachers who are positive and prepared to provide daily instructions with the appropriate amount of rigor to engage and grow your child. Your Bulldog staff is committed to collaborating with our entire school community to provide practical, hands-on learning experiences to enhance classroom instruction. I challenge all Bulldogs to return to school with a mindset of academic and personal excellence both inside and outside of the classroom. I also challenge all Bulldogs to commit to excellence in an extra-curricular and/or athletic capacity to support the larger Butler High School community. Let's all commit to continuing the tradition of excellence that is synonymous with David W. Butler High School's reputation.
