My name is Erica Ellis, and I am both honored and excited to return to this school community. With 23 years of experience in education, I have developed a profound belief in the power of strong relationships, collaboration, and high expectations to transform the educational experience for every child. 

I began my career in Charleston, SC teaching Pre-K with Charleston County School District. After my husband and I got married, we moved to St. Kitts in the Caribbean where I taught mixed level classes of Kindergarten through 3rd grade. Upon returning to the United States, I taught 4th grade in Athens, Georgia before settling in the Charlotte area. Since joining CMS, I have taught Pre-K at Tryon Hills Pre-K center, then Kindergarten and 1st Grade at Berryhill. In 2015, I came to River Gate as a Dean of Students. I spent 6 years at River Gate before moving to Selwyn as an Assistant Principal. I am so excited to be coming back to my Gator Family!

At home, my husband and I have 3 wonderful daughters ages 13, 16 and 18. I have just graduated my oldest daughter from high school and am excited for her to start her college journey at East Tennessee State University!

As we prepare for the upcoming school year, I am committed to supporting our teachers, students and families and building upon the outstanding foundation already in place. My leadership philosophy is rooted in mutual respect, open communication, and continuous growth. I believe that every member of the school community—teachers, staff, families, and students—brings valuable perspectives and talents that help us thrive together.
