Hello South Pine Academy Families,

My name is Michelle D. Givens, and I’m excited and honored to introduce myself as the new principal of South Pine Academy for the 2025–2026 school year.

I’ve spent over 30 years in education, and throughout that time, I’ve always been passionate about helping students grow, working closely with families, and creating a love of learning. For the past 20 years, I’ve served as an administrator in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Before that, I worked in the New York City Public Schools for 12 years as a teacher and assistant principal.

Elementary school is such an important time in a child’s life, and I’m truly looking forward to getting to know all of you and working together to support your child. I believe that strong relationships with families, staff, students, and the community are what help a school truly thrive.

As someone who has spent their life in education, I bring not just experience, but a strong belief that every child can succeed when given the right support and encouragement. My goal is to make sure all our students feel safe, supported, and ready to do their best.

I look forward to meeting all of you and working together to help our students grow, thrive, and achieve at the highest levels. Please don’t hesitate to introduce yourself in the days and weeks ahead. I can’t wait to begin this journey with you.
