Attendance and Absences

  • Please note the following revised attendance guidelines from CMS.

Students are expected to attend in-person instruction on their scheduled days. However, there may be situations that require a student to attend school remotely:

    • not feeling well and parent keeps the student at home until they can be tested for COVID
    • possible exposure of a family member who is waiting on COVID results
    • failed the symptoms screener
    • quarantine

In the event a parent needs to have their child participate in remote learning during an in-person day, the parent needs to contact the child’s teacher to document the request and reason.  If this is not done, the student will be marked absent.   If the student participates in remote instruction for more than HALF of the instructional day, which may be asynchronous because of the teacher’s schedule, the student may be marked Present Off Site using the 1R code.  We would like to thank you in advance for making sure that your scholar adheres to these attendance guidelines.

If you have any questions about these revisions please contact your child’s teacher or the front office.

    ATTENDANCE

Each child must bring a written excuse from the parent/guardian stating the reason for absence upon his/her return to school. The absence will be marked as unexcused until a note is received. Missing the school bus and/or oversleeping cannot be coded as an excused absence. Each student who accumulates more than three (3) unexcused absences will be mailed a notice from the principal (required by state law) outlining the negative impact of student absences in school.

To report a school absence, click on the "Absent" tab on the home page or send a note in with your child upon their return.

    TARDINESS

Students who arrive to school after 8:00 AM must be signed in by a parent in the office. Once signed in, the student will receive a tardy pass and must report to his/her classroom. Tardy passes are issued to ensure that each child is registered present for the day. Students must be in their classroom by 8:00 AM or they will be counted tardy. Children signing in tardy after 11:30 AM will be counted absent for the day.
