CMS appoints new executive, principals

An executive and two new principals were announced at the August 23 Board of Education meeting.

Nicolette Grant will return to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools as southwest learning community superintendent, after serving as Chief Academic Officer for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools since 2019. Previously she served as executive director of Pre-K-13 in Guilford County Schools. She also served as executive director Pre-K-5 for CMS from 2016-2019 and as executive director for the northwest learning community from 2015-2016. She also was principal at Collinswood Language Academy from 2010-2015 and as assistant principal from 2006-2010.  She earned a master's degree in school administration from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte in 2016.

James Vanosdall has been named principal at Francis Bradley Middle School. Prior to that he served as assistant principal at Hopewell High School from 2014. He also served as principal intern at Rocky River High School from 2013-2014, and as a math teacher from 2010-2014. Vanosdall earned a master's degree in education from Wingate University in NC in 2014.

Trishi Stewart has been appointed principal at Idlewild Elementary. Previously she served as assistant principal at Elizabeth Lane Elementary in 2018. She also served as a CMS student services facilitator from 2016-2018 and an exceptional children's teacher at Walter G. Byers K-8 School from 2011-2016. She earned a master's degree in school administration from Winthrop University in SC in 2017 and a master's degree in education in teaching and learning from Liberty University in VA in 2013.
