23-24 RRHS Attendance Recovery Policy

According to state policy, high school students accumulating more than ten absences, excused or unexcused per class, will receive a grade of “F” for the course. Students who have surpassed the 10th day will need to do some form of attendance recovery.

Attendance Recovery will require the student to make up the hours missed over the 10th day by completing work. The teacher will assign this attendance recovery work on the Edgenuity App or by posting specific Attendance Recovery assignments on Canvas. Students MUST reach out to teachers to arrange their Attendance Recovery work. Proof of work and time spent completing the work must be documented. Students who make up at least 45 minutes will have made up one absence. Time can be recovered in-person or virtually (Student’s choice). THE LAST DAY TO COMPLETE ATTENDANCE RECOVERY WORK WILL BE MAY 23rd.

Students who want to stay after school to complete the Attendance Recovery work can arrange that time based on the teacher’s after-school availability. A Recovery Lab is also available throughout the week from 2:30-4:00 pm with a Credit Recovery teacher supervising. Transportation is not provided. To attend this lab, the student must email Ms. Noboa (dayanarac.noboa@cms.k12.nc.us) to schedule a time. A confirmation email will be sent back to the student if he/she can join the recovery lab on that date.
