Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! My name is Orlando Robinson, and I am the principal of West Charlotte High School. It is an honor and privilege to lead a school that is built upon excellence and strives to do what is best academically and socially for all scholars. It is my vision for West Charlotte High School that our school will be a place of strong academics and challenge for scholars while being a place where students feel they belong. We’ll aspire to provide scholars with numerous opportunities to find the learning and extra-curricular opportunities that will prepare them for their next step in life. Mr. Robinson has 24 years of experience working in the field of education. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1997, he began his career in sales before transitioning into his teaching career first as a mathematics and language arts teacher and then as a middle grade science teacher. During this time, he also received master’s degrees in teaching & educational leadership from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. After graduating in 2007, he became an assistant principal, a Human Resources Team Leader, and then a principal for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. Through his leadership, he organized and established programs that transformed the educational experience for scholars by providing leadership and supervision in elementary, middle, and high schools. He focused on climate and culture, instructional leadership, and instructional programming. He further mentored and supported many aspiring leaders to transition into the field of school administration. He is currently completing a doctoral degree at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

His educational philosophy is based on his uncompromising belief that all students can learn, given a positive learning environment, strong and knowledgeable leadership, a committed and focused educational team, an encouraging community, and a supportive family.

Mr. Robinson enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and reading.
