Ms. Carrisa Johnson-Scott

Welcome to Harding University High School, Home of the Rams!

My name is Carrisa Johnson-Scott, and I am incredibly excited to lead the Harding University High School community; a community whose roots run deep with history, legacy, and pride!  Because of the hard work and dedication of the entire school community, the expectations have been set, “Excellence is our Standard, and Impact is our Promise”.

I have been in education for 24 years, seven years as an instructional coach.  I hold a BS in Mathematics from Clark Atlanta University, a M.Ed. in Secondary Education, Ed.S in Educational Leadership and currently pursuing a Ph.D., I served as a classroom teacher for 15 years, and an Instructional Coach for 9 years.  Eight of those years were, here, at Harding University, which subsequently led to a promotion to Assistant Principal and now Proud Principal. Throughout my journey, my educational experiences and promotions have prepared me for the role of principal of Harding University High School.

School leaders prepare for curveballs coming from every angle, and you become conditioned to expect the unexpected.  We learn and grow with each situation, no matter the underlying tone, we learn and grow. To that end, I am thankful for every experience I have been afforded.  Simply put, as an experienced school leader, I am confident in my ability to lead this community successfully in the future.

As a parent of a high schooler, I would like to acknowledge that the parent's journey through high school is equally important as that of the student.  This perspective is not lost on me and I understand the challenging, yet satisfying role that parents play in their child’s growth in education. This is my open call to parents. Let’s join forces to create the best experience for our children and for us.

With that said, it is an honor and privilege to serve as the principal of Harding University High School.  I understand that the four years that a student spends in high school should be the most exciting and memorable experience for all the right reasons.  The most effective way to ensure this happens is to have a highly engaged, highly active school community that supports a student's career, college, and community readiness. This is a concept I welcome and embrace!

Despite what can be read or even heard… I am committed to #ChangingTheNarrative.  Our theme remains "The Return of the Rams" with the motto: "Excellence is our Standard, and Impact is our Promise"
