Uniform Policy 2022 - 2023

    Under the direction and guidance of Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools Board of Education policy JICAA-R (Regulation). We are pleased to provide Marie G. Davis K-8 IB school uniform dress code for you. School uniforms have been demonstrated in schools across the United States to help improve academic achievement, encourage safe and orderly behavior, and foster improved self-esteem All students are required to comply with the Uniform Dress Code on a daily basis. Failure to comply will result in disciplinary action aligned to Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools Code of Student Conduct.

    BOTTOMS

    • Khaki and Navy only. They should only be twill shorts, slacks, jumpers, skirts, or skorts.
    • No Blue Jeans/Jeggings/Leggings.
    • Shorts, skorts, and skirts must extend past the tips of the fingers when arms are held to the students sides. Blue, black or khaki leggings or bike pants may be worn under skirts, but not by themselves as pants. Students cannot wear sagging pants. If pants have belt loops, then a belt should be worn to assist with keeping pants pulled up.

    TOPS

    • White and Navy blue only.
    • They can be long or short sleeve. ALL SHIRTS MUST HAVE A COLLAR! They cannot have designer labels, insignia, and or pictures or advertisements. SHIRTS WITHOUT COLLARS ARE PROHIBITED THIS INCLUDES BUTTON-UP SHIRTS.
    • T-shirts worn under collared shirts only and must be only navy blue or white. Clothing may not be worn more than one size larger than the student regular size.

    ACCESSORIES

    • Belts may be worn but they must not include any designs, studs, or large belt buckles.
    • FOR SAFTEY REASONS: No Flip-flops, sandals, crocs or open-toed shoes will be permitted at any time!

    OUTERWEAR

    • HOODED SWEATSHIRTS/HOODIES ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BE WORN IN THE SCHOOL BUILDING DURING THE DAY, THIS IS MANDATORY!!
    • Sweatshirts or jackets will not be allowed to be worn during the school day. If there are any concerns about the temperature during the colder months, we encourage students to wear long sleeve in Navy blue or white collared shirts or they may wear Navy long blue or white sleeve shirts under his/her collared shirts. The only exceptions to this rule are sweatshirts, shirts, and long sleeve t-shirts that are official Marie G. Davis SPIRIT WEAR.

    LOANER UNIFORMS

    • Loaner uniforms will be available for student who report to school not in uniform if one is available. If a student refuses to wear a loaner uniform, then the student will be referred to administration for disciplinary actions. Repeated use of the uniform closet does count as a disciplinary infraction and is subject to penalties listed within CMS student's rights and responsibility handbook.
