Endless Possibilities: Exploring Education Options at CMS

Posted on: 12/10/24

Current and prospective Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools families had an opportunity to attend the Endless Possibilities: Exploring Education Options at CMS fair at the Park Expo Center on Dec. 7.

Designed to help families make informed choices about their children’s education, the fair showcased signature themes and specialized programming options like Performing Arts, Early and Middle Colleges, STEM/STEAM, Montessori and International Baccalaureate programs. Families were able to connect with school staff, educational partners, Career and Technical Education educators, military recruiters and more.

“To be able to communicate with someone in person, ask questions, get more details and contact information, I feel like it’s given me more options and better decisions about what I should do next for my child,” said parent Suvonera Qlenn.

Before the fair was open to the public, 10,000-plus eighth grade students from across the district visited from Dec. 2-6. Students explored CTE pathways, received college and career guidance, participated in hands-on STEM/STEAM activities and virtual reality demonstrations.

“(The fair) allows students to see not only what you can do in education but how it can end up into a relevant career,” said Brett Buchanan, executive director of CTE.
