Oaklawn Language Academy opens new reading room
Posted on 3.6.25
On March 3, Oaklawn Language Academy officially opened its La Biblioteca Encantada, a reading room donated to the school by the Ben Carson Reading Project.
Oaklawn is a full magnet program offering language immersion education in Spanish for grades K-8. The school received about $13,000 to purchase more than 500 high-interest books, furniture and decorations to create an environment for children to become proficient and enthusiastic readers. The books were selected for K-5 students in English and Spanish to meet the needs of learners and align with their magnet. The room will be used for sustained silent reading time and building reading endurance and a love for reading.
Currently, there are only six reading rooms in North Carolina. This will be the third room donated to a CMS school.
