About CPEC

Central Piedmont Early College is a new school opening in August of 2023. Central Piedmont Early College is a CMS high school located on the campus of Central Piedmont Community College. CPEC is one of North Carolina's cooperative innovative high schools. Cooperative Innovative High Schools target first-generation college students, underrepresented students and/or students who would benefit from accelerated learning opportunities. Currently, North Carolina has 134 Cooperative Innovative HIgh Schools, including 123 funded partnerships.  

The Early College Experience

Rising 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students can apply through the CMS School Choice Lottery. In addition to earning a high school diploma, students can earn up to two years of transferable college credit or an associate's degree tuition free. All college courses and books are provided at no charge to students.
