Mrs. Amanda Childress

Amanda earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education in 2006 and began her career as a teacher at Club Boulevard Humanities Magnet School in Durham, NC.

After earning a Master of School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2014, Amanda served as the Assistant Principal of J.Y. Joyner Magnet Elementary School in Raleigh. After relocating to the Charlotte area, she served within CMS as a new teacher coach and magnet programs specialist before landing at Davidson K-8 as an academic facilitator in August of 2019. She served as the assistant principal at Davidson from 2020-2022 until she was named principal in the fall of 2022. Amanda is honored to serve the community of Davidson in this role. Her favorite things about DK8 are the amazing kids (little ones and teenagers alike!), the incredible staff, and this remarkable community.
