Druid Hills Academy families and scholars, 

Welcome back to the 2023-2024 school year!  It is with excitement, enthusiasm, and lots of joy that I introduce myself to you all as your proud new principal.  I am ready to begin our journey to excellence without exception for all students at Druid Hills Academy.  I am confident that when we partner together, we will do great things. There are GREAT things ahead of us this year! 

Our mission is listed above, along with our vision verbs.  When we stick to the mission and actualize the vision verbs, all students will succeed.  Our theme this year is “Excellence without Exception.” 

I know that I will not get everything right, but I can promise you that I will try my best every day and work hard for your child.  I believe that all students deserve the best of the best, and we will bring our best daily!  We are fully staffed to start the school year with teachers and staff who are excited and ready to start the journey of excellence.  

Just so you know a little about me - I’ve been in education for over 25 years in some capacity or another.  I have taught most levels and subjects from PK-8th grade.  I have been an EC Teacher and Director, an Academic Facilitator, an Assistant Principal, an Executive Director, and a Principal.  I have genuinely loved each of my professional roles and find myself continuing to grow and learn how to lead a school well.  My biggest and best accomplishment, however, is being a wife and a mother of two beautiful adult children.  I have been married for 28 years to my best friend, Chris.  I have a son, Zachary (26) and a daughter, Katie (25) who are my whole world.  They have grown up with me as a teacher and have learned to share me with my “other kids!”  When I’m at school, I see your children as my own, and I act accordingly.  I sincerely hope that through the years we spend together, you will see that in me.  

Lastly, know that I am honored and humbled to be your servant leader, to be your advocate, to be a part of your child’s educational journey.  I am an open door - call me, email me, stop by and talk to me.  980-343-5515 or betha.marshall@cms.k12.nc.us  If you swing by, I may be on a duty post, in a classroom, in a PLC, or meeting with a small group of students so you may have to schedule a time, but I love meeting with parents so that we both know that we want the same things for all my kids at Druid Hills Academy!
