    Our “Why”...

Ballantyne Elementary School (BES) is a Leader in Me School. Leader in Me builds leadership and life skills in students, creates a high-trust school culture, and lays the foundation for sustained academic achievement.

BES Houses help make our amazing school culture and climate visible to all! We want to make the invisible visible!  We want all students and staff to belong to something special and create relationships throughout the entire building and across all grade levels.

The House System is a dynamic, exciting, and proven way to create and sustain a positive climate and culture for students and staff. Using the House methods helps our school confidently implement processes that build character, relationships, and school spirit.

Through the BES House System, students are celebrated for their efforts through a process that builds character, empowers academic excellence, fosters school spirit, enhances relationships, and promotes a culture of belonging for all.

    Our “How”...

We have 4 Houses at BES; Isibindi, Reveur, Amistad, and Altruismo.

House selection is random for staff and students.  Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade classes are sorted into a House.  Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade students are sorted into a House.

Each House has its own nickname, color, crest, symbols, cheers, hand signals, customs and traditions that its members will come to learn.

We hold monthly House meetings, plan and attend House activities, engage in healthy House competitions, and celebrate our students and student leadership daily. At the end of the year, the House awarded the most points will win the key to our school!
