Dear Pinewood Elementary Families,

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year. As principal of Pinewood Elementary, I want to welcome all of our new and returning families. We are looking forward to another great year and continuing to partner with you during your child’s elementary educational school career. 

Open House at Pinewood Elementary 
Open House will be held on Friday, August 25th from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Please make sure that you attend so that you can meet your child’s teacher and so your child will know where their classroom is located and feel prepared for the first day of school.

The First Day of School
The first day of school is Monday, August 28, 2023. Our school hours have changed! Our hours are 8:15-3:15. Students are allowed to enter the building beginning at 7:45 a.m. and breakfast will be served in the cafeteria. Parents may not drop students off prior to 7:45 a.m. The school day begins promptly at 8:15 a.m. and concludes at 3:15 p.m. It is the expectation at Pinewood Elementary that all students be in their seats and ready for instruction at 8:15 a.m. Students entering the building after 8:15 a.m. are considered tardy and a parent/guardian is required to sign the child in prior to them being permitted to enter. Parents/Guardians will not be able to escort children to the classrooms at any time of the day during the school year including the first day of classes to ensure safety for staff and students. There will be many staff members throughout the hallways to ensure your child gets to their correct classroom safely!

Pre-K Staggered Entry Schedule
The Pre-K schedule is listed below. Teachers will contact each family to schedule your individual virtual home visit.

Friday, August 25: Open House
August 28 - August 30: Virtual Home Visits  
August 31st, September 1st, and 5th: Staggered Entry
Wednesday, September 6th: First day for all Pre-K students

Staggered Entry- The teacher will notify you during the home visit of your designated staggered entry date.. 

Kindergarten Staggered Entry Schedule
Please follow the schedule below for the first week of school. You will be able to meet all the Kindergarten teachers at the specified Open House times mentioned above on Friday, August 25th 1:00-3:00. On August 31st from 1:00-2:30, you will have the opportunity to meet your child’s assigned Kindergarten teacher for the year. All kindergarten students will begin their first full day on September 1st.

Monday, August 28: Last names A-F
Tuesday, August 29: Last names G-P   
Wednesday, August 30: Last names Q-Z 
Thursday, August 31: No students AM/ Meet the Teacher 1:00-2:30
Friday, September 1: First day for all kindergartners

**If your child is an incoming Pre-K or kindergarten student, you are reminded that you must provide proof of immunizations and a health assessment prior to the start of school.

Transportation
If your child needs bus transportation, you must register them for the bus on the cms website in order to receive transportation. There is no guarantee that they will have transportation for the first day of school if you have not registered with them. If your child will be a car rider, please make sure that you ask for a car rider tag during open house. All car riders must have a car tag for the first day of school.

School Supplies
Basic school supplies will be provided by the school for each student. We will also give out book bags to students during the open house until we run out. The only supplies that we would like for families to purchase are personal earbuds/phones for students and kleenex tissue for the classroom.

Casa Abierta en la Escuela Primaria Pinewood
La Casa Abierta será el Viernes 25 de agosto de la 1:00 a las 3:00. Asegúrese de asistir para que pueda conocer a la maestra de su hijo y para que su hijo sepa dónde se encuentra su salón y se sienta preparado para el primer día.

El primer día de escuela
El primer día de clases es el lunes 28 de agosto de 2023. ¡Nuestro horario escolar ha cambiado! Nuestro horario es de 8:15 a 3:15. Los estudiantes pueden entrar al edificio a las 7:45 a.m. y el desayuno se servirá en la cafetería. Los padres no pueden dejar a los estudiantes antes de las 7:45 a.m. El día escolar comienza puntualmente a las 8:15 a.m. y termina a las 3:15 p. m. La expectativa en Pinewood Elementary es que todos los estudiantes estén en sus asientos y estén listos para el día escolar a las 8:15 a.m. Los estudiantes entrando al edificio después de las 8:15 a.m están marcados como tarde y un adulto tiene que registrar el estudiante con la oficina antes de ir a clase. Miercoles, 6 de septiembre: Primer día para todos los estudiantes de pre kínder

Entrada escalonada- La maestra le notificará durante la visita al hogar de su fecha de entrada escalonada designada.

Horario de Entrada Escalonado de Kínder
A continuación se encuentra el horario para la primera semana de clases de kínder. Podrá conocer a todos las maestras de kínder durante la Casa Abierta el viernes 25 de agosto de 1:00 a 3:00. El 31 de agosto, de 1:00 p. m. a 2:30 p. m., tendrá la oportunidad de conocer a la maestra de kínder asignada a su hijo para el año.Todos los estudiantes de kindergarten comenzarán su primer día completo el 1 de septiembre.

** Si su hijo es un estudiante de pre kínder o kínder, se le recuerda que debe proporcionar prueba de vacunas y una evaluación de salud antes del primer día de clases (28 de agosto).

Transporte
Si su estudiante necesita transporte en autobús, debe registrarlo para el autobús en el sitio web de cms para recibir transporte. No hay garantía de que tengan transporte para el primer día de clases si no se ha registrado con ellos. Si su hijo viajará en carro, asegúrese de solicitar una etiqueta para la fila de carros durante la Casa Abierta. Todos los que viajan en carro deben tener una etiqueta para la fila de carros para el primer día de clases.

Útiles
Los útiles escolares básicos serán proporcionados por la escuela para cada estudiante. También daremos mochilas a los estudiantes durante la Casa Abierta hasta que se agoten. Los únicos útiles que nos gustaría que las familias compren son audífonos/auriculares para estudiantes y kleenex para el salón.
