Dear Renaissance West STEAM Academy families,

Welcome back for another amazing school year at Renaissance West. For those new to Renaissance West, welcome to
our community!

I am so excited to be returning for another great year at Renaissance West STEAM Academy. Over the past few months
we have spent so much time working to bring in and retain the best teachers for our students and community. We are
very excited for all of you to meet them.

Our staff is diverse and brings wide experiences and a passion for education to our school. Our staff is united and
dedicated to our community and to helping our students Soar Higher this year.
We are continuing to learn about best instructional practices and to focus on our core of teaching and learning. As a
school, we are focused on delivering high-quality instruction to our students through data driven instruction, robust
coaching for our staff, and putting students at the center of everything we do. Together, we will help our students and
community to Soar Higher than ever before.

This school year we are focused on five areas of focus, Great Teaching, Student Academic Achievement, Advanced
Coursework, Student Engagement, and Community Engagement. We have a wide range of action steps to succeed in
these areas and help our students Soar Higher.

We are also looking forward to continuing to work with our partners at the Renaissance West Community Initiative. It
would be impossible for us to achieve on our own, so their involvement and support is key to our student’s and
community’s success.

As an educator, I believe that all students will learn. It is our duty as educators to create the academic conditions for all
students to learn each day, finding and using the strategies that ignite students’ desire to learn. I will work tirelessly
every day to be a champion for our students and community.

For those new to our school, this is my second year as the principal at Renaissance West. I earned a bachelor’s degree in
elementary education from the University of North Carolina Greensboro and a master’s degree in elementary education
from Pfeiffer University. I also have a master’s in school administration from the University of North Carolina Charlotte.
During my career, I have worked in Guilford and Union counties, as well as in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

I am looking forward to a school year where our students and community continuing to Soar Higher.
