•  Dear Central Piedmont Early College Parents and Community,

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year. We are excited for the upcoming year, and we are looking forward to continuing the critical work of equipping our students with the skills and education that will prepare them for career and life success as they pursue their post-secondary plans.  My name is Erik Turner, and I am the proud Principal of Central Piedmont Early College. I have the privilege of working with an amazing group of dedicated and committed educators who provide a balance of teaching, coaching and encouragement each day to our students at CPEC. Our mission at CPEC is to provide a rigorous academic environment of discovery, reflection & excellence that leads to college & career readiness for every student. Our goal is to be the premier early college program in CMS and North Carolina and our pathway to accomplishing this goal is below…

    1. Be recognized for rigorous teaching & learning in every course in every classroom.
    2. Provide a robust menu of career pathway opportunities for our diverse group of students.
    3. Expose our students to a variety of corporate apprenticeship & internship experiences.
    4. Provide equitable access to advanced classes.
    5. Offer a diverse menu of extracurricular opportunities (clubs, intramurals, theater, etc…)
    6. Foster an environment that creates school pride and community ownership of school outcomes.

Your partnership and engagement with our faculty and staff will be crucial to us accomplishing this goal. A positive relationship between the school and the family is the core to a successful academic experience for every student. In support of this, we will commit to intentional and responsive communication that will ensure that our families are given the information they need to support our academic expectations at home to ensure our school-wide success.

Welcome to the journey!! The next step in the journey is our back-to-school open house on Thursday August 3, 2023, from 4:00pm to 6: 00pm.The open house will be a “drop-in” experience for all students and families. During the event, students and parents will have an opportunity to meet with teachers to view classrooms, discuss course expectations, join our PTSO, plus much more!! Our back-to-school open house will be held in the Worrell Building located at 1228 Elizabeth Avenue Charlotte, NC 28204. Free parking is available for all guests in Parking Deck 3 located on the corner of Charlottetowne Ave. & 4th St.

Thank you again for entrusting our faculty and staff with your student and we look forward to partnering with you and your family for a transformative and truly amazing 2023 -2024 school year.

    Together in service,

    Principal Turner
