Autism Supports

  • The CMS AU Team provides secondary, specialized support for schools in all Performance Areas and students on all levels of the continuum. The CMS AU Team will provide recommendations at the intensive level: 

    • General Education
    • Resource
    • Separate Classrooms (Extensions, K-2, SBS)
    • Public, separate schools (CMA, Metro)
    • Hospital/Homebound

    The CMS AU Team supports increasing capacity in the implementation of an effective autism program to improve outcomes for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The CMS AU Team engages in data-based problem-solving, including the use of fidelity tools and accountability measures. 

    The CMS AU Team designs and delivers professional learning as well as ongoing coaching and modeling of quality, evidence-based practices specific to ASD related to the following domains: 

    • Enviromental Desgin and Supplemental Supports
    • Communication/Social
    • Functional Adaptive Skills
    • Behavioral
    • Teaching Practices
    • Academics

    Grade-Level ECCTs (EC Coordinating Teachers) conduct student support visits to document teacher concerns, interventions implemented, student needs and provide recommendations. THE CMS AU Team completes record reviews, analyzes data, collaborates with Grade Level EC Coordinating Teachers and school-based teams to gather information, and then follows up with next steps and develops a coaching cycle if needed for continued support.
