RFP for CMS Superintendent Search Firm Now Open

January 13, 2023 -- Today the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education (Board) released its Request for Proposal (RFP) to select an executive search consultant service firm to assist in the search for a superintendent for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

The superintendent search process, including the superintendent selection and hiring, will be overseen by the Board’s Superintendent Search Committee. This four-person committee intends to work with urgency and is looking for a partner that, within an accelerated timeframe, can deliver excellent services and attract strong, innovative candidates for this position. The Board intends to hire a superintendent in the spring of 2023.

Superintendent Search Committee Chair, Summer Nunn, stated “We are very excited to begin the RFP process and select our search firm. We have a great deal of work ahead of us as we make this crucial decision on behalf of our students, parents, staff, and community.”

The Board spent the fall of 2022 holding community engagement sessions with Civility Localized. That process included 21 stakeholder interviews, five focus group meetings, three listening sessions, and an online survey with close to 2,000 responses. Civility Localized’s final report and recommendations were presented to the Board at its Dec. 13, 2022, meeting.
